How to access layout folder in SharePoint

Problem Description:

Where is the _layouts directory on the server?

Resolution:

Sharepoint 2010 layouts folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\

If you're using SP 2007 the folder is

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\
